'American Horror Story' Season 6 News: New Season To Involve 'Elements of Children'; Theme Yet To Be Finalized
Though details about the upcoming sixth season of FX's "American Horror Story" are being kept under wraps, co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that the anthology horror series' sixth run will include "elements of children."
Murphy and the main cast members of "American Horror Story: Hotel," the series' fifth season, hit the stage on Sunday, March 20, to conclude this year's PaleyFest in Los Angeles.
As has been his custom, the "AHS" executive producer used the event to announce what he can about the show's next season.
"If you look at horror tropes, the innocence of children, that sort of wide-eyed entryway into some world is always very dramatic and satisfying," Murphy said (via E!).
Despite this revelation, the "AHS" boss admitted that they have not locked down a definite theme for season 6. "The interesting thing about this season is we've been working on two ideas at once, which we've never done," Murphy said (via TVLine).
"So I don't want to say what it maybe is … Both things that we're writing right now – we haven't declared a winner – will have a different form, so we're excited about that. We'll talk about it soon, but we haven't landed on it yet," he explained to the throngs of fans at the event.
As for the next season's cast, only singer/songwriter Lady Gaga and multi-awarded actress Angela Bassett have officially been confirmed to return to "AHS."
Gaga announced that she will be coming back for another go on "AHS" during an interview with Z100's Elvis Duran earlier this month while Bassett has spoken about returning to the series in previous interviews.
During the show's PaleyFest panel, Murphy said that every cast member on the stage who wants to return for another season of "AHS" is more than welcome to do so. On the stage were Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, and Finn Wittrock.
"American Horror Story" season 6 will debut next fall.
