'American Horror Story' Season 7 Spoilers: Lena Dunham Makes Her 'Cult' Debut as Valerie Solanas
The upcoming episode of "American Horror Story" season 7 will see Lena Dunham take on the role of Valerie Solanas, who is infamously known for trying to assassinate Andy Warhol.
A teaser trailer for the new episode, titled "Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag," shows a brief sneak peek at Dunham's character. She is shown holding a gun, pointing it at someone off-screen. Of course, it is assumed that she is aiming it at Andy Warhol, a role that is going to be played by Evan Peters, who is also portraying cult leader Kai.
Series creator Ryan Murphy previously shared a first look at Peters as the artist on Instagram. Peters perfectly pulls off the white wig and sunglasses, making him look almost exactly like Warhol. In preparation for the role, Peters revealed that he watched a lot of videos of Warhol and did some research on him. Of course, Warhol is only one of the many infamous cult leaders Peters will be bringing life to this season.
Meanwhile, here is a recap of the previous episode, titled "Mid-Western Assassin."
The episode opened with a mass shooting that was edited last-minute due to the tragic events that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. And while it was initially revealed that Ally (Sarah Paulson) was the shooter who was holding the gun and being tackled by the police, things became clearer when the episode delved into what happened before the shooting at the rally.
After being informed by Meadows (Leslie Grossman) that the cult is real, Ally took matters into her own hands and went to Sally (Mare Winningham) to spill the beans. Sally is Kai's competition in the race for city council, so she is a target of his cult. It did not take long before the murderous clowns arrived at Sally's place and killed her.
In the end, it was revealed that telling Ally about the cult was all part of the plan, and Meadow was not working against Kai after all. Meadow was actually the mass shooter, but a struggle with Ally made it seem like it was the latter who carried out the crime.
"American Horror Story" season 7 airs Tuesdays, at 10 p.m. EDT on FOX.
