The new comedy show of ABC is just actually about an angry and insecure mother who goes around throwing fat jokes throughout the first two episodes aired by the network.

"Maybe the worst thing about 'American Housewife' is that what it really wants to be is a comedy that says, at every turn, how ridiculous and unfair it is for women in their 40s with kids to somehow feel pressure to look like thin 19-year-olds with high, tight asses," a review of the TV show indicated.

ABC network's solid background when it comes to good sitcoms took a hit after the pilot episode of "American Housewife" as the stream of negative reviews slowly made their way to online publications.

Because being fat is an abnormality

In a culture where the word "fat" is used as a derogatory term and the society's notion of a perfect wife are good looking, thin as sticks, and never a hair out of place ladies, being fleshy can seriously turn your sunny mood into a downpour of disappointment. But Katie, Nixon's character, is a strong willed woman with a healthy dose of sarcasm in her are her tools to get back at these perfect ladies, whom she now considers thorns in her side.

Redeem the show

The show is only down to its first two episodes, the plot is still developing. The whole cast and crew of "American Housewife" still have an ample time to redeem themselves, and prove to the viewers and critics that blasted them that their show is not a flop.
