'American Housewife' Season 1 Episode 17 Spoilers: Katie Plays Mediator to Alan and Viv
The Coronel may have regained her authority at home, but getting in the middle of somebody else's business is about to backfire on her in the next episode of "American Housewife."
Katie's (Katy Mixon) neighbors, Viv (Leslie Bibb) and Alan (Jay Mohr), get into some domestic dispute after she encourages Viv to stand up to her boorish and insensitive husband. But when Viv does as Katie says, the former comes to a realization that Katie may soon learn to regret.
The next episode of "American Housewife" titled "Other People's Marriages" may teach control-freak Katie that meddling in other people's business, even with her best intentions, doesn't always lead to good results.

When Viv makes a stand against her husband, she also decides to leave him for good and move in with the Ottos next door. How can Katie possibly strike a balance between taking care of her own family and trying to fix her neighbors' marriage, which she may have inadvertently led to ruin?
Will Viv's personality compliment Katie's family dynamics, or will it only cause unnecessary problems that will heighten Katie's need to get Viv back together with her husband? More importantly, how will Alan react to Viv moving in with the neighbors and what steps will he be taking to get his wife back?
Speaking with The A.V. Club about her role as an unconventional sitcom mom, actress Mixon said that growing up watching her own mother raise six girls and one boy helped her settle naturally into her role. Now that she is currently pregnant with her own child, her TV role as a mother of three is that much easier to get into.
"It's something to be said when actors are able to literally play a role that just says it like it is," Mixon shared. "And she's not bottled up all the time, and she's not perfect, and she knows it. And you watch her ebbs and flows, and I think that's refreshing," she added.
