'American Idol' Contestant Symone Black Falls, What Happened? (VIDEO)

Wednesday night's episode of "American Idol" set tongues wagging after one idol hopeful collapsed off of the stage after singing before the judges, and critics have begun questioning whether the incident was staged.

Sixteen-year-old Symone Black suddenly fell after her delightful rendition of Otis Redding's "(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay," and viewers were left wondering what exactly happened?

The episode, which is the first during "Hollywood week," shows a polite and well spoken Black reflecting on her journey to Hollywood where she speaks candidly of her father who accompanied her during her first audition.

"My Dad is with me during Hollywood week and he is my mentor, he's critic, he brings out the best in me. He tells me what I need to work on. He's so supportive, I love him so much," Black said.

The confident idol hopeful then takes to the stage to introduce her song before performing a few lines of the song and judge Randy Jackson eventually stops her to establish why she selected that particular song.

"I wanted to reach out to a umm older crowd, older audience," Black explained while appearing slightly dazed and confused.

"You saying that we're older?" Randy jokingly shoots back.

"No," Black casually responds before collapsing and falling from the stage.

Almost immediately the words, "medic please!" can be heard, and the judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Jackson appear horrified as they watch production staff tend to Black.

The show briefly displays a screen shot of Black who appears to be suffering from convulsions, and suddenly ends leaving viewers stunned.

Critics instantly took to Twitter to share their thoughts, and while some suspected that the California native suffered a seizure others suspected that it was a stunt to boost ratings.

"Auditions in Hollywood, Falls Off Stage: Give American Idol credit for airing a legitimate, soap op." Alessandra Benedetti tweeted.

"Anyone watch Idol last night? does anyone have any idea how Symone Black is doing?" a concerned Marigo S. Mihalos tweeted.

Viewers must wait until the next episode of "American Idol" to find out what caused Black's fall, and for the status of her condition.
