'American Idol' Reboot News: Kellie Pickler Expresses Interest in Making a Cameo Appearance on Series

Despite her busy schedule, Kellie Pickler recently said she is open to come back on "American Idol."

Before having her own reality show on CMT, Pickler gained fame after competing on the fifth season of Fox's "American Idol." Now that the series is making a major comeback on ABC, the CMT star has expressed interest in revisiting the program that launched her career.

"It forever changed my life, and I will always be grateful to have been a part of the show," she told PEOPLE. "If an opportunity comes along for me to go back, I would love to!"

Pickler's comment comes on the heels of the report that "American Idol" may be delayed indefinitely. According to TMZ, production for the revival will likely not push through soon until it finds more judges. It was previously announced that Katy Perry will be joining as one of the judges, but news of the possible delay does not work with the pop singer.

Sources told the media outlet that Thursday is the last stop for the tour bus auditions, which means it is just weeks away from the planned taped auditions. The only problem is that "American Idol" producers still have not locked down two more judges to join the panel with Perry. If filming will be postponed, the new schedule will likely conflict with Perry's Witness tour schedule producers worked hard to accommodate.

There have been speculations that the "Swish Swish" singer complicated matters by publicly revealing her whopping salary of $25 million as the show's judge. The sky-high figure allegedly made it more difficult to secure more celebrity judges for the panel and derailed discussions on bringing host Ryan Seacrest back. Although he has already inked a deal for the reboot, he also asked for a huge sum of money.

"American Idol" is expected to return next year on ABC.
