'American Idol' Season 15 News: It's Goodbye to Emily Brooke for the Second Time

Five contestants sadly went home last night on "American Idol," and it is the second time that the show had to say good-bye to Emily Brooke.

Emily Brooke also made it last year to the Top 48, but the judges decided she wasn't ready yet to be included in the Top 24. She came back fiercely in the farewell season of "American Idol," and was finally chosen to become one of the 24 contestants who'll perform with a live audience on the "Idol" stage. Unfortunately, Brooke was eliminated last night, making her say good-bye to her "Idol" dreams once again.

Before the eliminations, the first half of the quarterfinalists performed with former "American Idol" winners and runner-ups to help the judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr., decide who can work well with other artists.

Brooke and Lauren Alain were first to sing, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, Brooke did better during her solo performance this week. Next to perform were Thomas Stringfellow and Nick Fradiani, who both sang "Man in the Mirror." The website said that Stringfellow didn't look as comfortable as he did during his last performance on stage, but it seems that the judges still see a lot of potential in him.

Stephany Negrete sang with Ruben Studdard, and the two blended gorgeously. It was one of the best duets last night since Negrete made the audience feel that she's like a seasoned performer. Sonika Vaid performed with Caleb Johnson, the winner of "American Idol" season 13. As usual, the judges loved Vaid.

Jenna Renae and Scotty McCreery also performed, and the judges had trouble comparing her performance with Scotty, who's already an experienced singer. La'Porsha Renae sang with Fantasia Barrino, and just as last Wednesday's solo performances, Renae came out on top of the competition.

Mackenzie Bourg sang with Alaina, but the judges felt that his solo performance represented him more as an artist than his duet with the country singer. Gianna Isabella sang with last year's winner, Fradiani, and the judges seemed to like it according to Hollywood Life.

Studdard performed again, but this time it's with Avalon Young. The two earned a standing ovation from the judges for their energetic duet. James VII sang with Johnson, and the website said it was like a concert number. Country singers McCreery and Jeneve Rose Mitchell sang together, and Harry told Mitchell, "You're extraordinarily musical."

The last to perform was Jordan Sasser and he sang with Barrino, who's also from North Carolina like him. The website said he tried to upstage the season 3 winner, but Keith called him out for it, saying he went out his lane.

The judges deliberated after and announced that the contestants that made it through are La'Porsha Renae, Void, Young, Isabella, Stringfellow, Bourg, and Mitchell. Besides Brooke, Sasser, James VII, Negrete, and Jenna Renae were sent home.

Watch "American Idol" every Wednesday and Thursday on Fox.
