Andrea Riseborough to Play Villain in 'The Crow' Remake?
English actress Andrea Riseborough is currently in talks to play a villain in the remake of "The Crow."
"Birdman" actress Andrea Riseborough is in negotiations with Relativity Studios to play the villain, Top Dollar in a remake of 1994 cult classic, "The Crow."
In the original film, mob boss, Top Dollar was played by Michael Wincott, whose character has a hand in the death of The Crow and his girlfriend.
The film will be based on the graphic novel written and illustrated by James O'Barr where "The Crow" is also male, and the possible casting of Riseborough as a female version of the villain has been reported to anger fans.
Riseborough, who played opposite Tom Cruise in 2013's sci-fi film, "Oblivion" and starred as Wallis Simpson in Madonna's 2011 directorial debut, "W.E.," will be breaking the mold if she ends up as Top Dollar in the upcoming remake.
The remake, to be directed by "The Hallow" helmsman, Corin Hardy, will star "Boardwalk Empire" actor, Jack Huston as main protagonist Eric Draven, a role previously played by the late Brandon Lee who was accidentally killed on the set of the original movie after being shot with a defective blank.
"Winter's Tale" and "Downton Abbey" actress, Jessica Brown Findlay has been cast as Shelley, Eric Draven's fiancée, who meets a tragic end at the beginning of the original film after having been raped and beaten by Top Dollar's henchmen.
Eric Draven is killed in the same incident, but comes back from the dead a year later with the help of a supernatural crow, to avenge his and his fiancée's death.
No release date has yet been set for "The Crow" remake, which will be penned by Cliff Dorfman and produced by Edward R. Pressman, who also produced the original Brandon Lee starrer.
