Andrew Silverman: 'Protecting Son' From Scandal is Priority
Andrew Silverman is dealing with the news of his wife's pregnancy by friend Simon Cowell in his own way. He revealed that he is most concerned with keeping his 7-year-old son out of the headlines and drama surrounding the scandal.
"My top priority is protecting my 7-year-old son while working to resolve all outstanding issues with my wife," Silverman told Us Weekly. "Hopefully people can respect the interest of our child during this process."
According to at least one source, Silverman and wife Lauren had been unhappy for some time and were already planning to divorce when news broke that she was pregnant with friend Simon Cowell's child. The news came as a surprise to the public, given that Cowell had never even mentioned he was in a relationship with anyone.
Andrew filed for divorce two weeks ago, before the baby news broke, and included Cowell in the filings. According to family friends, the Silvermans had been trying to have another baby before Andrew filed for divorce.
"She has been trying to get pregnant again for so long," one friend told the New York Post. "What happens if she miscarries and Simon owes her nothing? Then she is left with nothing. But maybe Simon is in love with her."
"I am committed to sorting things out with Andrew as amicably as possible," Lauren said in a statement released to the press. She is currently staying in the Hamptons with her mother and son.
Cowell has yet to publicly confirm the relationship or pregnancy but made light of the situation during an event in Los Angeles.
"I haven't read the newspapers," Cowell joked. "Am I missing anything? There are a lot of things I will eventually clear up," he added.
Lauren is allegedly hopeful that things will work out with Cowell and the two will be able to start their own family. However, that could take a while if the divorce proceedings are drawn out between her and Andrew.
