Android 4.4.4 KitKat Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date and Download Arrives
Samsung has been steadily rolling out the Android KitKat 4.4.4 update on their devices and the latest to receive the update is the Galaxy S5 flagship. It has been a while since the company has announced the arrival of the update and it seems that Galaxy S5 users can now get it on their phones.
Aside from the 4.4.4 update, there's also the 4.4.3 update for devices incompatible with the higher version. The two versions are intended to be patches and bug fixes for the Android 4.4.2 update.
Verizon is reported to be the first to roll out the update, but various other wireless carriers and phone companies have also been steadily rolling out the updates for their own product lines.
The 4.4.4 KitKat update brings a number of customization options to the Galaxy S5 such as the Real Dark Slim feature as well as new custom shortcuts and updated camera features. The update also fixes issues with the Bluetooth audio where users sometimes experience a loss in audio quality when using Bluetooth headsets.
Security issues have also been fixed on the 4.4.4 KitKat update, as previously experienced by the 4.4.2 update.
The update can be downloaded via over-the-air or users can manually check for the update itself on the phone's system information settings.
Android 4.4.4 KitKat won't be the last of the updates the Galaxy S5 will be receiving. Google is still set to release its newest Android OS, the Android L (or Android 5.0). This update will also be making its way to the Galaxy S5 when it is released.
