The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Verizon version will begin rolling out by the end of this month. The company confirmed these plans through its Twitter account last week.

"HTC One VZW customers: delay with 4.3 update does not impact delivery of 4.4 by end of January-still on track," tweeted HTC USA.

In order to receive KitKat, the device must first be upgraded to Android 4.3, JellyBean. HTC promised and delivered that build by rolling it out at the end of last month.

"Delivering 4.3 on VZW will be a two-step process," tweeted the company. "First update for compatibility happening this week, followed by Android OS update in Dec."

International HTC One owners will receive KitKat sometime in this month, according to a statement made by HTC U.K. This would mean that the rest of Europe won't be too far behind. HTC USA also confirmed that the Droid DNA will receive KitKat by the end of Q1 pending certification from Verizon.

The HTC One successor is also expected to be unveiled in the coming months and will come running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. The new software debuted on the Nexus 5 last year and should roll out as an official update for most high-end devices by the spring.
