Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie Codenamed 'K Release,' Software Set for Fall Release Date
The Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie release date could be in the fall.
The software is currently being called "K Release" by Google and it is said to be the next major upcoming Android update, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal.
The publication did not specifically claim that "K Release" was actually Key Lime Pie, but it did indicate that it will be a major software update and the 'K' hints at the long rumored name for the build. The Wall Street Journal also reported that "K Release" will take place in the fall as Google will be "wrapping up development on the next version of Android" at that time.

If this report ends up being accurate, it will fall in line with some of the previous ones which stated that the company was holding off on the next major Android update in order to allow more devices to receive Android 4.2, JellyBean.
The report also claims that the next major Android build will be a lot friendlier to low-cost devices than its predecessors. Google will be able to put most Android users on the same page if this is accurate information.
Earlier reports have said that Google will not be introducing a brand new build of the software. Instead, the company will release an update for JellyBean, bringing it up to Android 4.3.
The version of JellyBean has already showed up on Android related websites this month such as 9to5 Google. Android Authority also reported on sightings of Android 4.3, JellyBean last week.
A Reddit user recently informed the site that the next major build of Android has been showing up in logs and reports as Android 4.3 JWR23B. Android builds normally appear in logs with their numbers followed by their letters.
