Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on LG G3 Release Date: Latest Upgrade Coming to Handsets in UK This Week
Good news to all LG G3 users in the UK: the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is about to be rolled out to G3 device users over the weekend.
An official spokesperson for LG told TrustedReviews, "I can confirm that LG is rolling out the update to G3 handsets in the UK this week. We expect it to arrive on most devices by Saturday."
"There may be some variation by carrier, but generally speaking G3 owners can expect to be running the latest flavor of Android by the end of the week," he added.
The LG G3 Android 5.0 update kicked off in Poland and South Korea last month. Meanwhile, carriers in the United States like AT&T and Sprint pushed some bug fixing issues and most likely made some changes to prepare for the Android 5.0 update which is slated to arrive sometime later this month.
LG recently cited its past partnerships with Google which had allowed it to gain early access to the new Android OS. In previous years, the LG devices on AT&T have been updated first, such as the LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update, and users are expecting the same thing with the LG G3 and Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
"We will definitely be one of the first vendors to introduce Lollipop to our flagship device," said LG Product Marketing Manager Shaun Musgrave to TrustedReviews.
"Because we have a good relationship with Google—and bearing in mind we have two previous devices with them—naturally we would get the ASOP a little earlier than most," he added.
