Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta 2: Google Releases Nexus 6P Fingerprint Gesture With Update
Google has just announced the release of the second beta update for Android Nougat 7.1.2. This minor update is rolling out to the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player as of this time.
A feature very much in high demand by Nexus 6P owners has now made its way to the latest Android Nougat Beta. This version of the update, now at 7.1.2, will finally include the fingerprint swipe gesture that users can use to activate the notification tray. A new option has also been made available to configure this new feature under the "Moves" tab in the Settings app, according to Android Police.
The feature has been a subject of much anticipation by Nexus 6P owners, who have been met by contradicting answers from Google. While it was first announced that the feature is not on its list for Android Nougat, the company later revised its statement to say that the fingerprint gesture is a possibility. Since then, the company has shown no sign of revisiting the feature, until it released the fingerprint gesture for the Nexus 5X in the first beta of the Android Nougat.
Now, Nexus 6P can finally swipe the rear fingerprint sensor to check their notifications once they receive this rollout of the second beta of the Android Nougat 7.1.2.
The new beta also gave a facelift for the multitasking interface. According to XDA Developers, Pixel C owners have posted images of the new multitasking user interface, along with some minor visual tweaks. A new launcher is also included with the beta, and there have been some changes made to the navigation bar icons as well, making them look like the ones on the Pixel and Pixel XL.
