Android M for Samsung Galaxy S6, Note 4 to be released early 2016
Android M (Marshmallow) has recently been revealed, but some devices will receive the update late, and there are reports that the Samsung Galaxy S6, S5, S4, Note Edge, and Note 4 will have to wait until next year for the update.
The list of Samsung devices set to receive Android M includes the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S6 Duos, Note 4, Note 4 Duos, Note Edge, Galaxy Tab A, and Galaxy Alpha. But the Galaxy S5 and S4 are not in the list and yet these units may be among those that will receive the update next year, according to the Gospel Herald.
The S5 is very capable of handling the Android M update because of its amazing specs but it has been left out of the update, to the dismay of consumers. But this smartphone will most probably receive an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update sooner or later, Tech Times relays.

For now, the Galaxy S4 has Android 5.0, and the exact release date of Android M on Samsung devices is still unknown. Some of the abovementioned devices still have not received their Android 5.1.1 update, the report adds.
Phone Arena reports that the users of those Samsung devices should expect Android M to be rolled out to them by early 2016. It could arrive come holiday season, but it is not certain. Updates usually take one trimester after the source code is given to the manufacturers. Nexus users are usually the first ones to be graced with Android updates, but Google has yet to release the next Nexus device this year.
Android M is expected to bring a lot of improvements in the system, including app permissions, power saving, auto backup, and memory usage monitoring.
While Android M is still unavailable for the aforementioned Samsung devices, users will have to sit tight and wait for next year. Once a new Nexus device is released with the new OS, the update will slowly be rolled out to the rest of the Android gadgets.
