Android Marshmallow 6.0 Update for HTC One M7, M8, M9: Which Devices Are Included in Year-End Mass Rollout?
When Google first rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the public, the HTC One M7, M8, and M9 have not been included, but there are reports that the update may be coming to some of the company's devices soon.
HTC has not yet confirmed when Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come to HTC One M8 and M9 and the M7 update is highly unlikely, but the company did say it is working on the update. In fact, HTC America president Jason McKenzie announced a mass Android 6.0 rollout before this year ends, according to the Gospel Herald.
In a statement posted on Twitter, McKenzie said HTC will begin releasing an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for HTC One M8 and M9 at the end of 2015. But he did not reveal the exact release date of the new software, the report details.
Unfortunately, devices such as the One M7 that run older platforms may not be included in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update after all.
Other non-HTC devices that are bound to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update include the LG G4, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Note, and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The older and midrange devices will get the software update later, the Venture Capital Post reports.
There are HTC devices, however, that may get the Marshmallow update earlier than the other devices. Rumors say the Google Play Edition HTC One M8 will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow by the end of this month. The HTC One M9 Developer Edition, on the other hand, may get the update anytime from November until early December, the report relays.
As for the Google Play Edition One M7, there is still no confirmation on whether it would still receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow or not.
The latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring lots of improvements such as updated Android Pay, Google Now, and the addition of App Permissions and power-saving features. The new software will also include support for USB Type-C port and fingerprint scanner.
