Android to Receive Snapdragon Expansion in 2012
Qualcomm announced today that it is releasing the expansion of the Snapdragon GamePack with over 100 titles along with a new feature application, “Snapdragon GameCommand.”
This will add to the already strong supply of console quality games for mobile products featuring Snapdragon processors.
The new gaming titles that are set to be released with the Snapdragon GamePack and GameCommand should be available on the Android market sometime early in 2012.
The GamePack is a rapidly growing collection of games. The Snapdragon GameCommand app provides mobile users quick and easy a way to find and learn about the latest Snapdragon features and exclusive games.
Users will also have the added bonus to keep and access all their favorite games with one icon.
Alan Wilson, vice president of Tripwire Interactive said: "We waited to enter the mobile market until we could bring a top-of-the-line PC game experience to mobile devices. Snapdragon processors now give us the power to do that."
The Snapdragon GameCommand app also provides gamers with a source for the latest gaming news from some of the most popular gaming news websites.
Raj Talluri, vice president of product management at Qualcomm said: "With more than 60 percent of smartphone users regularly playing games on their mobile devices, the time is right to bring more console-quality and casual games to the Snapdragon platform. We are very excited to put our new Snapdragon GameCommand app and greater gaming titles in the hands of consumers in early 2012."
The apps and several new games that will be available on the Android market will be initially designed to work solely with Android enabled devices. Two of the titles include "Fight Game Heroes" from Khaeon Game Studio and "The Ball" from Tripwire Interactive.
Didier Pippel of Khaeon Game Studio said: "Android has emerged as a prominent medium for gaming, and we are excited to work with Qualcomm to give gamers the mobile experience they deserve."
"We are looking forward to the launch of the Snapdragon GameCommand app, which will bring our Snapdragon optimized games directly to consumers and help to eliminate the search process,” Khaeon added.
