Murray will be favorite to win through in this match, but Verdasco is a very dangerous player and the British No. 1 will be taking nothing for granted coming into the match up.

Verdasco is known for his thundering left-handed serve, and that could cause significant problems for Murray, who has tried to prepare by facing a left-hander serving to him in practice.

Murray has already described Verdasco as "extremely dangerous" prior to their meeting, and even though the Spaniard is ranked just No. 54 in the world, he will be the first left-hander Murray has faced this year so far.

Talking about that fact, Murray has said, "I think it's pretty amazing six months into the year. I don't normally mind the way the ball comes off the racquet from the back of the court. I grew up playing with my brother, so that almost feels a bit more natural to me than a righty. But it's just the serve and the way you move on the return that's different."

Left-handed doubles player Johan Brunstrom has practiced with Murray ahead of the game, and he has told BBC Sport: "They wanted to see a left-hander like Verdasco and get to see the serve a lot, and what spin there is on the ball. He was just getting used to playing with a leftie and the little loop we have, so we were doing some cross courts and down the line. I served a lot, so he got to see a lot of leftie ball."
