Anna Paquin Talks X-Men 'The Gifted' Cameo, 'The Handmaid's Tale' Comparison to 'Alias Grace'

Will Anna Paquin ever consider appearing in "The Gifted" on FOX? The actress played Rogue in the X-Men movie franchise almost 10 years ago and now her husband of eight years, Stephen Moyer, stars in the X-Men spinoff series.

Moyer revealed that he's not against the idea of his wife reprising Rogue for his show. It's a big possibility for him since their characters belong to the same X-Men universe and while no familiar X-Men character has shown up on "The Gifted" so far, things might change in succeeding episodes.

Paquin, however, feels her guest appearance on the show could be too distracting. It seems she's not into stunt casting or something was done intentionally just because she's Moyer's wife and she used to be one of the X-Men.

"I feel like that's one of those things that probably takes people out of the story in a weird way," she told Cinema Blend. "If I was the creative force behind it, I'm not sure I would want to splice 'True Blood' married people with different X-Men families. I feel like that might be a little schticky."

Meanwhile, Paquin is excited over the release of her new series "Alias Grace" on Netflix. The actress acknowledges the show will likely receive plenty of comparisons to "The Handmaid's Tale" given that both stories delve on the oppression of women and both materials are from author Margaret Atwood.

"Alias Grace," however, takes place in the 19th century as opposed to the futuristic dystopian drama on "The Handmaid's Tale." The Netflix series centers on Grace Marks (Sarah Gadon), an Irish immigrant suspected of murders. Paquin plays Nancy Montgomery, the lover, and housekeeper of one of the victims.

There will be six episodes to the series that also stars Zachary Levi, Edward Holcroft, Paul Gross, Rebecca Liddiard and Kerr Logan. The show, which is based on a true story, will arrive on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 3, at 3:00 a.m. EST.
