'Annie' Movie News: Final Trailer Released, Cameron Diaz Talks About Singing in the Film

The final trailer for "Annie" was launched on Monday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and reveals the backstory of Annie's parents. The trailer was introduced by Quvenzhane Wallis, who plays the titular role, Jamie Foxx, who portrays Benjamin Stacks and Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan.

The trailer opens with Wallis singing "Tomorrow." Then, Annie reads a letter that her parents left with her when they gave her up for adoption.

"There's half a locket around her neck so when we come for her, you know she's our girl," Annie says while reading the letter.

The orphan meets the wealthy mayoral candidate Benjamin Stacks, but their bond is threatened when his advisors, played by Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne, tell him that they have found Annie's parents.

The movie reboot will feature the same songs that were sung in the "Annie" Broadway musicals and in the 1980s movie. The singing parts comes very naturally to Foxx, as the actor has previously recorded his own songs and has done his own singing in films like "Dream Girls." But Diaz admits that she had to train to play the part.

"I sang in My Best Friend's Wedding. That was more true to my voice," she explained on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "But that's my karaoke voice, you see. I had to actually have a voice for this song, for this film. I did a lot of training—as much as I could!"

In the November issue of Marie Claire, Diaz also admitted that she was terrified but had to say yes to the role.

"The two things I'm most terrified of are heights and singing in front of people," said the actress. "I just felt like this is something that needed to be addressed. I cried uncontrollably … but the only way to get through scary things is to have a sense of humor about it."

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Associated Press, Wallis said that she had to take lessons to prepare for the film. The 11-year old, who was nominated when she was 9 for her work in "Beasts of the Southern Wild," said, "My vocal cords got better as I sang in the car, and then I [took] singing lessons, they got even better."

"Annie" will premiere on Dec. 19.
