Apple iOS 10 Messages New Features: Low Quality Photos, Read Receipts, Send Message Effects Among Messaging Highllights
Apple has made a lot of changes in the Messages app for iOS 10. At its most basic level, the bubble is just a place to chat, but now it has a lot more features. For example, the Messages app now has its own app store.
Its functionality is definitely no longer limited to sending text messages. Here are some of the more useful new additions to the Messages app.
Low Quality Photos
Apple is thoughtful enough to allow you to send lots of pictures through iMessages without worrying too much about your data plan limitations. This works by setting the Messages app to allow only low-quality photos to be sent.
To do this, just go to the Settings, then Messages, then reduce image size. With this feature, a 1 to 2 MB picture is reduced to just 100 KB.
Read Receipts
Individual read receipts allow you to choose which people can get read receipts; that is, which persons can identify that you've read their message or not. You don't want all your friends knowing that you ignored their messages.
To enable this feature, just tap the upper right circular i on your message history and swipe "send read receipts" on.
Send Message Effects
When you type a message then hold the send button, a couple of effects appear; these include the invisible ink effect, whisper effect, and slam messages if you want to get that scream effect.
You can also send messages with bubbles, confetti, laser light show, fireworks and a shooting star.
Momento
Momento is a GIF application that takes a couple of your photos and turns it into and transforms them into an animated GIF. You can then send your GIF to your friends on Messages. It's a good way to have fun, and it could be useful as well.
Digital Touch
Digital Touch provides extra features you can send with your messages. These include drawing your own symbol, and holding to send various pre-made symbols like hearts or kisses.
Sticker Apps
iMessage has a lot of sticker apps. One sticker app is called "Super Mario Run Stickers," which won't be available until December this year. According to BGR, with the Super Mario Run sticker app, you can "show off your feelings with Mario's expressions or use items to decorate your conversations and make them look like a scene from Mario's world.
Another great sticker app is Disney Stickers. It includes all the popular Disney characters like Donald Duck, Minnie and Mickey Mouse.
