Apple iOS 9.3.1 Update Released, Bug Fix Included
Good news for Apple users. The Cupertino-based multinational technology company has released an update to iOS 9.3.1. The update arrived a few days after the launch of iOS 9.3 which came on March 21. But according to Forbes, the rollout of the iOS 9.3 was a rocky one because it brought activation problems for several older iOS devices. It also included a bug that caused the web browsing on Safari to malfunction.
MacRumors detailed that the new update brought with it a fix for the problem with the crashing and freezing issue that users have been experiencing whenever they tap or long press on a web link in some pre-installed or third-party apps like Safari, Mail, Messages, Notes and Chromes. The underlying cause of the problem was not identified, but it is believed to be in relation to Universal Links and the Shared Web Credentials daemon, which permits apps and websites to share login credentials.
The update iOS 9.3.1 is now rolling out to supported iPhones, iPads and iPod touch units all over the world. It can be downloaded through iTunes via connecting to the computer or through the settings wherein one can find the option General and then Software Update. The download size is just a small one which means that it is just a minor software update.
GSM Arena reported that the update fixed the problem because after installing the iOS 9.3.1, the issues of crashing and freezing has not occurred anymore. Thus, for those who are still having some problems, it's best to apply the update as soon as possible. It's also noted that the iOS 9.3.1 does not include any new features. However, the iOS 9.3 has plenty of it including the Night Shift, CarPlay, new features for educational purposes, health apps and more.
