Apple iPad Air 3 Specs, Release Date Rumors: New iPad Air Coming Out In March?
It has been over a year since Apple released what many consider to be the best tablet in the company's line-up: the iPad Air 2. Now, rumors are swirling that the tech giant may release its next iPad Air, the iPad Air 3, at a major Apple event next month.
Possible Release Date
According to TIME, Apple is expected to hold an event in mid-March, in which the Cupertino, CA firm may or may not launch the rumored 4-inch iPhone, the iPad Air 3, and the new Apple Watch. Mark Gurman, an Apple whisperer whose previous predictions have proven accurate, claims that these new Apple offerings will debut in the week of March 14th.
The rumored March event, which would be the company's first since September 2015, is expected to unveil three new offerings from three different product categories, just as Apple's fall event did. Though the iPad Air 2 was made available in September and some expect the iPad Air 3 to be similarly debuted in the fall, it should be noted that the original iPad debuted in January 2010 and was released in April of the same year.
Features
The unveiling of the iPad Air 3 will mark the first major upgrade to Apple's mid-sized tablet lineup since September 2014. The new iPad Air is expected to feature 3D Touch, which is already available in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. If so, the iPad Air 3 will be the first Apple tablet to have this new feature.
Should the iPad Air 3 launch in March, it would likely run the current iOS 9 and have the capability to run iOS 10, which is expected to be released in June. There is also much talk about the next iPad Air being able to support the Smart Keyboard that was unveiled with the iPad Pro in 2015 and about the tablet having a rear LED flash that will enable users to take better photos in the dark.
Apple has confirmed neither a March event nor a March debut of the next iPad Air.
