Apple iPad Mini 4 Specs Review: Features Similar to iPad Air 2, Include A8 Processor & 8MP Rear Camera
Even though the iPad Mini 4 didn't make much noise when it was unveiled in September, some people still think that it's a tablet device worth mentioning about. The reason why it was never really given much attention just as how the new iPhones had at the launch is because of the fact that the latest installment of the iPad Mini series is very much like the iPad Air 2 but in a smaller size.
According to The Straits Times, the iPad Mini 4 is a 7.9-inch tablet version of the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 tablet. It is 18 percent thinner and lighter than the iPad Mini 3 and is 6.1 mm in height with a weight of 0.65 lbs. A 2048 x 1536 resolution together with 264 pixels is still built in on the new device just like its predecessors. Its unibody is made with aluminum which is intended to make the device last several years as claimed by Apple. Interested consumers can also choose from the color options available which include silver, gold and space gray.
Checking on the inside, the device is powered by an A8 chip which is the same processor used in the iPhone 6. Vine Report detailed that the A8 performs better and is also 30 percent faster compared to the A7 chip. With such processor chip, launching apps and playing games is very fast and smooth.
The iPad mini 4 also carries an upgraded camera. From 5MP, the device now sports an 8MP rear snapper. However, the front camera remains the same with 1.2MP. Panoramic shots and burst mode is also featured. But one will not be able to find a dual-LED flash though.
Other specifications as noted in Mashable include the TouchID fingerprint sensor located below the screen, Lightning port for charging and data, mono speakers on the right side of the tablet and an antireflective coating to minimize reflections.
Anyone who is interested in purchasing the iPad Mini 4 will need to shell out a starting price of $400 for the 16GB Wi-Fi. The 64GB and 128GB variants cost $499 and $599 respectively.
