Apple iPhone 5S Scores Spot in the Museum For Film, 'Tangerine'

Recent reports have revealed that Apple's iPhone 5S has earned a place in history as it will be donated to the Academy Museum. This is to honor "Tangerine," the first movie to be shot entirely with an iPhone 5S.

According to reports, one of the three Apple iPhone 5S that was used to shoot "Tangerine" for the Sundance Film Festival has been donated to the Academy Museum, where it will be displayed to commemorate the efforts of "Tangerine" director Sean Baker and his crew in making the film. Furthermore, Baker revealed that while one of the three got a place in the museum, the other one was used to pay his rent. The last and remaining iPhone 5S remains to be Baker's position for reasons including remembrance and nostalgia.

Further reports also reveal that the decision to use Apple's iPhone 5S to shoot "Tangerine" came from the fact that using real and dedicated camera equipment is expensive. As such, by using the abilities of the iPhone 5S, various lenses that were attached to the lenses, more accessories, and different applications, the cast and crew could spend the tight budget on costs that were directly related to the film. This includes getting some extras on board and being able to determine the optimal location for the Sundance Film Festival candidate.

Another factor that contributed to the decision was the unfortunate side effect of having to handle bulky cameras: fatigue. By using the Apple iPhone 5S to shoot the movie, the entire production team can stick to tighter schedules and expend energy that is no more than necessary. Currently, "Tangerine" is not the only thing to be recorded by iPhones. There have been commercials and short films that did the same thing, but the Apple iPhone 5S from Baker will be the only one to be remembered and immortalized in the museum.
