Apple iPhone 7 Latest Rumors: New Specs and Release Date Revealed in Leak
Apple users have been anticipating for a long time what the iPhone 7 will look like. Pictures have been leaked, showing some of the iPhone 7's external features. The iPhone 7's new features and specs include the absence of a headphone jack and a refurbished home screen button.
Here are some of the rumored new features of the iPhone 7 to date.
No Headphone Jack
According to Fast Company, the Apple iPhone 7 won't have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. With that, the smartphone will be much thinner than its predecessor.
Wired headphones can still be used through a Lightning cable port, which can also be utilized to transfer data and to charge. Wireless headphones are also an option.
There are pictures circulating in the internet, showing the bundled Lightning earpods for the new iPhone. It looks similar to the earpods of the previous iPhones that use 3.5 mm jacks, but the main difference is the connector, which features a reversible Lightning port.
Stereo Speaker
Leaked photos reveal extra space in the iPhone 7 for another speaker, which implies that this next Apple smartphone might feature stereo speakers; a first among Apple iPhones.
On the other hand, other rumors suggest there won't be stereo speakers in place of the missing headphone jack. Instead, the claimed schematics show that there are grills beside the lightning port, which are there for aesthetic purposes, but not speakers.
Front Flash
Assembly instructions have supposedly leaked from the plants manufacturing the latest iPhones. The leaks show that the iPhone 7 design is pretty much similar to that of iPhone 6, except for minor changes in the antenna lines design and the absence of the headphone jack.
But these instructions also say "Strobe lens and LED," which may imply that the front-facing camera used for selfies may incorporate flash.
Pressure-Sensitive Home Button
New photos show the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus exteriors, showing screen assembly that doesn't have the standard home button cutouts. This probably means that the previous rumors are true; Apple will use Force Touch-like tech for the home button, combined with a sensor for fingerprint identification.
Schedule of Release
No one's 100% sure about the schedule of release, although this is a favorite topic in the iPhone 7 rumor mill. According to Evan Blass, a mobile reporter for Venture Beat, in a tweet, "iPhone 2016 release: week of September 12th." He followed up with a tweet saying, "Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th".
Blass is seen as a reliable source for leaks, as he has demonstrated accurate predictions in the past.
