Apple iPhone X Pre-Order, Delivery Times Details: How to Hit the Pre-Order Site as It Opens

By all accounts, the supply of iPhone X will not last very long by the time Apple's new flagship gets delivered on Nov. 3. The best bet for Apple fans, then, is to take advantage of the pre-order on Friday, Oct. 27.

With new reports that the iPhone X will be shipping out only half of their target number of units, the supply for the new device looks to be tighter than ever.

Add to that the additional demand from people who are skipping the iPhone 8, plus those who availed of Apple's iPhone upgrade plan, and it will be a stampede to secure a pre-order slot before the weekend.

To improve the chances of landing a pre-order ticket, it pays to be on time. Pre-orders for the iPhone X starts right at midnight in the Pacific, as Apple's online store opens on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:01 a.m. EDT. That's 12:01 a.m. PDT, and Business Insider recommends setting an alarm for that time.

iPhone X buyers are expected to overwhelm Apple's official website, even as the company puts the entire Apple.com site on serving iPhone X pre-orders, as 9 to 5 Mac notes. The best way to bypass that bottleneck is to use the specially designed Apple Store app to pre-order.

Angela Ahrendts, head of retail for Apple, agrees. Ordering via the app gives a better chance that there will be stock remaining, as Nicole Nguyen of Buzzfeed notes on Twitter.

It's best to be prepared for the moment the iPhone X becomes available, as well. To get the app ready to pre-order in just one tap, users should have the Apple Store app first, of course.

With the app installed, users must make sure that their Apple account is logged in to the app. It's best to check that the payment option is linked and working as well, whether it's their credit card, Apple Pay or something else.

Before Friday, prospective buyers will do well to pick an iPhone X variant, carrier, and payment plan ahead of time. That's so they can get to the last page, and hit the heart in the top right corner to add the item on their Favorites.

It helps to have more than one model saved that way too, in case one of them gets sold out immediately. To get to the order page on Oct. 27, users can then simply go to the Account menu and tap Favorites, and they're ready to pre-order with one tap.

Of course, there's always the option of lining up before Apple Stores open at 8 a.m. local time.
