Apple launches OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 to beta testers just days before the official launch of El Capitan
Apple's latest Mac operating system, OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan, will be launched by next week. However, the much-awaited operating system was introduced early to beta testers just a few days before the official launch of the new OS.
Just a few days ago, Apple seeded the El Capitan 10.11.1 beta version for developers to test. Last Monday, Sept. 21, the public beta version has been made available to anyone who wanted to take part in Apple's Beta Software Program. The next-generation software is said to offer enhanced and more stable overall system, and will now support new emoji characters.
The new iOS 9.1 already featured new emoticons like the taco, burrito, cheese wedge, hotdog, unicorn head, and the famous middle finger. These new emojis will also be seen on the new El Capitan OS. The OS X 10.11.1 is also said to come with Unicode 8 support.
The update can be accessed in the Mac App Store for those Mac users that are already a member of the Beta Software Program. However, those who are not yet a registered member of the program can just sign up on Apple's website to get a glimpse of the new OS X.
According to the Apple Beta Software page, those who want to register must use their existing Apple ID. "Help make the next releases of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan our best yet. As a member of the Apple Beta Software Program, you can take part in shaping Apple software by test-driving pre-release versions and letting us know what you think," the text said on the registration page of the program.
Mac users who want to test the beta version of the new OS should back up their laptops since the beta version might still come with bugs that can affect any stored files.
