Apple Picks March 15 as Date for iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 Media Event
Apple has picked Mar. 15 as the date for its next media event in which the iPhone 5se and the iPad Air 3 will be unveiled, based on the latest reports from 9to5Mac and BuzzFeed.
Reports about a March event by Apple have been floating around since last month. However, it was only recently that a specific date for the unveiling of the iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 has been pinned down, The Verge says.
On Mar. 15, Apple will finally reveal its newest set of gadgets that is expected to include the iPhone 5se, which will be an improved version of the iPhone 5s. The 4-inch smartphone will run on a powerful A8 processor and a new motion co-processor and will come with an NFC chip for Apple Pay support, according to Network World.
The iPhone 5se will reportedly come in 16 GB and 64 GB storage options. The device, however, will not have the 3D Touch feature found in the iPhone 6s, the report details.
The front and rear cameras of the iPhone 5se will also boast of marked improvement from its predecessor. The new smartphone will come with a starting price of $450, the report adds.
The iPad Air 3, on the other hand, will reportedly boast of a 4K display, 4-speaker sound system, LED flash for camera, Smart Connector, and 4 GB of RAM. It remains to be seen if the upcoming 9.7-inch Apple tablet will be able to revive the company's slumping iPad sales, the report relays.
Another device expected to be introduced on Mar. 15 is the latest Apple Watch. But there are reports saying the smartwatch may also be revealed in September. Rumor has it that the watch will sport colored bands, higher-end bands from Hermes, and black bands from Milanese Loop.
As of now, Apple has not yet confirmed the 9to5Mac and BuzzFeed reports about the Mar. 15 media event for iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3, so it is best to take this information with a grain of salt. More details on the upcoming devices are expected to surface in the weeks leading up to their actual unveiling.
