Apple iWatch Release Date: Apple 'Spring Forward' Event On March 9, Launch Details
With Apple set to reveal its Apple Watch during the its "Spring Forward" event on March 9, fans of the multinational's products and devices are turning their eye towards San Francisco where the event will occur next Monday.
An outdoor building is currently being constructed next to the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts in San Francisco heralding the "Spring Forward" event Apple is hosting at 10 a.m. on March 9. The event is rumored to be the launching pad for Apple's latest device, the Apple Watch.
Last week, the company sent out its invitations to the media, inviting them to observe a keynote presentation on what is rumored to be the launch of the Apple Watch. The European press has also been invited to a counterpart event in Berlin on the same date at 6:00 p.m. local time.
Unveiled last winter, Apple has yet to announce the details of their first foray into wearable devices, such as battery life, features, and even price point. According to Apple's chief executive, Tim Cook, the Apple Watch will go on sale to the public by April.
There are reportedly three versions of Apple's wearable: anodized aluminum in either grey or silver, standard polished stainless steel in black, and the luxury edition in either yellow or rose-colored 18 carat gold. Rumors are circulating the gold edition of the smartwatch will be set at $10,000 or more.
Reports have pegged each model to be available in 38mm and 42mm sizes, both of which come with a display featuring a sapphire crystal face.
There is expected to be a high demand for the smartwatch, Apple's first original device in five years since the launch of the iPad. Information has emerged the company has ordered over five million units from its Asian suppliers to meet this demand, with an additional seven million units to supplement supply for the rest of the year.
