Apple Watch Problems: Users Report Skin Irritation, Rashes, Discoloration and Scratches on Certain Models

When Apple launched its first wearable, the Apple Watch, it was not without any hitches. When the company opened up for pre-orders on April 10, many customers had to deal with limited supplies and delayed shipping dates. When the April 24 release date came around, the smartwatch still experienced limited supplies. Most models of the watch are only available for shipping by July, and they can only be purchased via the Apple Store.

More recently, Apple is dealing with a new set of issues with regard to their smartwatch. Some users are reporting skin irritations and rashes because of the watch, as well as band discoloration and scratches on the stainless steel models. These users have taken to online discussion boards to show proof of these problems, prompting customers who have yet to receive their watch to express their concerns about these issues.

So as Apple is trying to cope with the high demand for the smartwatch, they also have to deal with providing support for customers who are experiencing skin irritation and rashes by putting up an online support page that talks about how to wear, clean and care for the Apple Watch in order to avoid irritation.

The other common problem cited by users of the Space Gray Apple Watch Sport is band discoloration and wear. The report cites one user who experienced the problem only after a few days of wearing the watch. When he reported it to Apple, the company offered to send a new band free of charge and without asking for the old band back.

"The fact that they don't want the original back makes me think that they've been getting enough of these calls now," one user wrote. He however said that despite this, he was "happy" with his watch.

One of the more expensive variants of the watch, the $549 stainless Apple Watch, was also reported by some users to be prone to scratches and scuffs. An online support group has confirmed that this is the case and has posted instructions on how to remove these scratches and scuffs.
