Apple Watch Series 3 Reviews: Is This the Best Smartwatch to Buy?
The Apple Watch Series 3 is out and eager gadget geeks are likely lining up the stores to get their hands on this latest device, but is this purchase worth it? Is the Apple Watch Series 3 the best smartwatch in the market today?
Reviews for Apple's latest wearable vary. This is the company's first LTE-connected watch and some reports stated connectivity is its biggest problem.
Chris Velazco of Engadget, however, used the device for a whole day in lieu of the mobile phone and his connection worked fine, but after six hours of doing most of the digital task needed with little problems, the watch's battery dipped to about 10 percent.
Apple Watch Series 3's performance is noticeably better than its earlier iterations, according to Wired. Reviewer David Pierce had an easier time using the device with Siri activated and he didn't have to keep looking down on his watch this way. For him, this device, and not the iPhone 8 or X, is the next iPhone.
Using the Apple Watch Series 3 in place of a mobile phone also worked for USA Today's Edward Baig. Calls, texts, web and app use, including hailing for a cab with the help of Siri offered plenty of convenience.
The new Apple Watch comes with a similar sleek design as the other series, but the software is faster and much improved. Siri's voice, the sound and music are also audible and clear.
Most people bought the earlier Apple Watch as an alternative to Fitbit to use for health and fitness goals. Series 3 also improves on this feature with its new software and monitor app. Apple updated this with a Near-field communication (NFC) feature that can work alongside exercise machines and equipment.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is priced at $399 for the basic model. Models with additional features cost more and this still doesn't cover data plans. However, even without data or Wi-Fi, the smartwatch still offers plenty of use and could be a good buy for gadget enthusiasts.
