Ariana Grande, Big Sean Split After 8 Months of Dating
After eight months of dating, Ariana Grande and Big Sean have called it quits.
"They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends," their reps said in a joint statement released on Monday, April 20. "We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time."
Insiders close to the two said that they very quietly and amicably ended their relationship a few weeks ago.
"They made the decision to part ways because their conflicting touring schedules would keep them apart over the next year," a source tells Us Weekly.
The musical duo first sparked dating rumors when they were seen getting close at the MTV Music Video Awards in August. Grande and Big Sean confirmed their romance in October as they were seen sporting matching lion pendant necklaces.
The "Problem" singer answered "yes" when asked by U.K.'s Telegraph Magazine if she and the rapper are an item.
"He is one of the most amazing men in the world, and that includes my grandfather and my father," said Grande at the time. "I think the world of him, and he's an amazing person. That's kind of all there is to it."
In the months since, they've appeared together onstage at various concerts and on the red carpet at the 2015 Grammys. They also often reference each other on social media.
On April 4, Big Sean tweeted, "Just know I love u and I care for ya."
Grande responded, "Love u babes the most, you just can't imagine."
One day after announcing their breakup, the 21-year-old singer took to Twitter to assure her fans that she's fine.
"I love u babes so much, you're a bunch of angels honestly," Grande wrote. "Your love/ care is appreciated so much. I'm good, I promise."
