Arizona Cardinals Will Look to Add a Quarterback Via the Draft

Right now, the Arizona Cardinals are going to take a close look at the quarterbacks available in the draft. But instead of attending each school's respective pro days, the Cardinals will hold private workouts for the top prospects.

In an interview with azcentral.com's Kent Somers, Cardinals general manager Steve Keim pointed out that pro days were a waste of time and he prefers private workouts. Head coach Bruce Arians also noted that the workout wasn't even the most important part of a meeting since they could always check out the quarterback's skills on video. Instead, he wants to know how quickly the prospect learns and retain information.

"I think it's huge on guys you don't have a real good feel for. You want to get them on the blackboard, see them answer questions, recite information," Arians said in the interview with azcentral.com.

"I think there are five or six really good arms in this draft. Whether there are five or six quarterbacks, that's what we have to find out. I'm feeling more and more there are a couple of sleepers who, because of their offenses, didn't show as much as they are capable of," he continued.

Former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes already had a private workout with the Cardinals last week, and North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky is reportedly on their radar as well. DeShone Kizer, Deshaun Watson, Davis Webb and Nathan Peterman should be options as well.

Carson Palmer isn't getting any younger and he will have to retire someday. The good news is, Palmer is more than willing to act as a mentor for the quarterback the team ends up drafting. Whoever they get can learn a lot playing behind one of the best in the position.

Who will the Cardinals select with the 13th overall pick in the draft? Will it be their quarterback of the future?
