Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Carson Palmer Breaks Left Arm, May Miss Up to Eight Weeks

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer's season may well be over after he broke his left arm in the second quarter of the Cardinals' 33–0 shutout loss to the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday in London.

Palmer sustained the injury after he was hit by Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree on a pass that was intercepted by safety Lamarcus Joyner, and he was clearly favoring his left arm when he finally got up and left the field.

After the game, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians confirmed that Palmer has a broken left arm and he will have to undergo surgery to repair the damage when they return to Arizona. Palmer will miss at least eight weeks if he goes under the knife, but on Monday, Arians said the veteran quarterback is getting a second opinion and he may be back in four to six weeks.

"It depends what the surgeon says. He is a fast healer, he's had it broken before and he says he was back in five or so," Arians said, via ESPN.

Backup quarterback Drew Stanton came in after Palmer got hurt last Sunday, and he will have to step up and start at quarterback for the Cardinals while Palmer is out.

"I have learned a lot from Carson sitting behind him, but I am also going to do things my way because I can't be Carson Palmer," Stanton said, via the Cardinals' official website. "Some things will look a little bit different. At the same time, the majority of the offense, because we have those playmakers, it's just finding a way to build that continuity and get the momentum back in our favor," he continued.

Stanton completed just five of 14 passes for 62 yards last Sunday. The veteran quarterback will have to play better if the Cardinals want to make the playoffs this season.
