Armless Bodybuilder Barbie Thomas Inspires Others 'God had plans for me'

Barbie Thomas is following her dreams of being a body builder, and is using her will not quit attitude to achieve those goals. However, there's one catch to her amazing story – she has no arms.

At just the age of two-years-old, Thomas was outside playing when she climbed atop a transformer and grabbed the electrical wiring. Upon doing so, a current so powerful shot through her arms and came out her feet, instantly burning her arms to the bone.

"They were like charcoal," she wrote on her website bio. "They were completely dead and had to be amputated at the shoulders."

Now, at the age of 37, she has become a competitive body builder and also models. Furthermore, she has two kids, aged 13 and 17.

"I was not allowed to be negative and say I can't do something," she said in an interview with ABC News. "I was always taught to focus on what I can do, not what I can't do. It probably has a lot to do with my personality -- I can't imagine being a negative Nancy all the time."

Thomas has created a routine for her fitness exhibitions that becomes pretty impressive to watch. The woman in the competitions have two minutes to mix a combination of dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics to show off their physic and athletic ability.

Also worthy to note, Thomas is in the toughest division, the National Physique Committee and was given a new award, the "Inspiration Award."

Using a bevy of moves including splits, ninja kick ups, and high kicks, she was able to place fifth in the Jr. Nationals at the North American Championships.

"We were thinking, 'How can she do that routine?' but she blew our minds," Arizona Chairman of the NPC, Miles Nuessle said according to Yahoo. "She was absolutely beautiful. She was on the floor jumping up and doing splits. I don't know what half the moves were called. She was rolling all over the place and shaking it -- sexy, athletic, fun and emotional. The crowd went nuts."

Thomas' mother made a pact with God, that if she lived that she make sure her daughter would become somebody important.

The doctor's initial diagnosis was that Thomas would be a vegetable for the rest of her life, and said if her was not for her rubber tennis shoes she would have died.

Amazed by her recovery, the doctors really had no words.

"I believe I survived because God saw the bigger picture and had plans for me," she said.
