Arnold Schwarzenegger to Provide Voice-Over for Crowd Sourced Navigation App Waze
Google's crowd sourced navigation app, Waze, has gotten Arnold Schwarzenegger to be its celebrity voice for the service.
Waze tweeted the Governator's hand wearing his California governor's ring and holding an iPhone to access the Waze app as a teaser to his being the app's new voice-over talent.
Starting Monday, the community-based traffic and navigation app's users all over the world will be directed by a familiar voice with an Austrian accent informing them "I'm a Terminator Cyberdyne Systems Model 101, and you're coming with me."
Schwarzenegger will be providing drivers turn-by-turn directions and other navigational instructions using some of his more famous movie lines from the "Terminator" franchise, such as "hasta la vista, baby," and "I'll be back."
Phone Arena reported that it took Schwarzenegger only an hour to record all his lines for the navigational app.
Waze is expected to begin rolling out a new update for its service Monday featuring the governator's voice. The update will be released as part of the promotion for "Terminator: Genisys," the latest installment in the "Terminator" franchise that's scheduled to hit theaters on July 1st.
Waze inked a partnership with Paramount Studios to land Schwarzenegger as its celebrity voice-over, and to give it an edge over its competitors, Navigon and Google Maps.
According to USA Today, Schwarzenegger has maintained he is a fan of the navigational app and is eager to reprogram his voice-over version into his phone.
Waze, which began as an early stage venture capital firm project funded and developed in Israel, was purchased by Google in 2013. It has since grown from 15 million users in 2012 to 50 million in 2015.
