'Arrow' Season 3 Spoilers: Brandon Routh Joins Cast, Stephen Amell Dismisses 'Batman V. Superman' Rumors
"Arrow" is already making waves months before its third season premieres on The CW this week.
Recent news surrounding the DC Comics-inspired television series has swept the internet today. Firstly, "Arrow" boasts a new cast member, The CW announced on Monday via TVLine. "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh was hired as a season three regular on "Arrow" in the role of Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom. The character is described as a scientist and inventor that will have an unexpected yet mysterious role in the lives of Oliver and Felicity.
Furthermore, The Atom can shrink down to subatomic size in the DC Comics. Routh's entrance to "Arrow" will mark the first time The Atom will appear in a live-action series. The actor joins recently added "Arrow" stars including Devon Aoki, Karl Yune and Peter Stormare.
Also this week, "Arrow" star Stephen Amell took to Twitter with a message for fans concerning rumors that the actor was joining the film "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"Hey Guys – I appreciate all the support and enthusiasm, but not everything I post is a cryptic indicator that I'm going to be in Batman V Superman," Amell wrote. "I'm not going to be in 'Batman V Superman.'"
The actor went on to briefly explain why he will not star in "Batman V Superman" before thanking his legions of fans.
"As an aside… The next time that I either do a video or an interview with a journalist that I like, I'll be happy to explain why this is the case," he wrote. "Short form – it's not a barometer on ability or the quality of genre – TV v. Film, no pun intended. Everything here boils down to logistics. In any event… thank you for how much support you've showed me. But keep in mind, playing Arrow on television isn't a consolation prize. We play the definitive versions of our characters in the DC Universe."
"Arrow" returns to The CW on Oct. 8.
