'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers: What Will Happen After the Death of 'Black Canary?'
Arrow-verse fans got the biggest shock of their lives when one of the members of Team Arrow, the Black Canary a.k.a. Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy) was killed in the episode "Eleven-Fifty-Nine." While the first teaser trailer for the current season did tease a character death, fans may not have expected that it will be Laurel.
The character's death is not in line with the comic book storyline, but according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Katie Cassidy said that it was time for her character's story arc to end. She told the press, "I've had such an incredible arc so it made sense to me, creatively, that we've told Laurel's story. It has come to an end in the Arrow-verse."
In the previous episode, Laurel as the Black Canary was stabbed by Damien Dahrk himself using one of the Green Arrow's arrows. Although she made it to the hospital, she eventually died while she was being treated for her fatal wound. The upcoming episode entitled "Canary Cry" will be picking up immediately after the events of the previous episode. The funeral that was featured in the fast forward in one of the season's earlier episodes will be shown during this episode.

According to a report in International Business Times, among the Team Arrow members, the most affected by Laurel's death is said to be John Diggle (David Ramsey). Based on an episode preview, he will go out on his own to exact justice on those he thinks are responsible for Laurel's death. He is shown confronting Star City mayor Ruve Adams (Janet Kidder) with a gun, but it's not yet clear whether he will pull the trigger or not.
A Design & Trend report cited the possibility that this may not be the end for the Black Canary, as "dead" in the Arrow-verse does not necessarily mean permanently gone. The IBT report also mentioned that Captain Lance may resort to supernatural means to try and bring her daughter back, much like what happened with Sara Lance, the original Black Canary who eventually became the White Canary.
The next episode, "Canary Cry" airs on April 27 at The CW.
