'Arrow' Season 6 Latest News: Felicity's Mom to Return to Star City
Charlotte Ross, who plays Felicity Smoak's (Emily Bett Rickards) mother in The CW's "Arrow," is set to return to Star City this season.
TV Line has confirmed that Ross will be reprising her role as Donna in one of the episodes of "Arrow" season 6."
While the reason for her coming back to the city is unclear as of now, there is likely to be some drama involving her daughter, and with Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), whom she had a brief relationship with in the previous seasons. She was last seen on the show's season 4 finale, but her name also came up in the current season's premiere, which could have teased her upcoming appearance.
There are speculations that she could be returning to celebrate her daughter's new business venture with fellow Team Arrow member Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), or the upcoming wedding of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West (Candice Patton) in the special Arrowverse crossover episodes.
Meanwhile, "Arrow" season 6 returned this week with episode 3 titled "Next of Kin."
The official synopsis reads: "A rogue black ops team led by Onyx (guest star Chastity Dotson) breaks into Kord Industries and steals something lethal. Oliver (Stephen Amell) struggles to connect with William (guest star Jack Moore) so he reaches out to a surprising source for help."
Onyx was a member of the League of Assassins, based on the comics. When she left the group, she headed to Star City to team up with the Green Arrow and Black Canary.
Last week's episode showed Oliver seemingly passing the torch of Green Arrow to a reluctant John Diggle (David Ramsey).
In an interview with SpoilerTV, the actor revealed that he already has a Green Arrow costume and that John's new role may create more problems in his already struggling relationship with his wife, Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson).
Mentioning the physical limitation that his character now has as a result of the injuries he sustained in last season's Lian Yu explosion, Ramsey told the publication: "The issue of trust comes up in a real way between them and the first part of it is because of what's happening with him in hiding a secret."
The actor added: "The second part of it is the same 800-pound elephant that's been in the room: The fact that he works as a vigilante and she's the new Amanda Waller. What is that all about? That ground hasn't been settled yet."
"Arrow" airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. on The CW.
