Arsenal vs. FC Schalke 04 Live Stream: Watch Champions League Football
Arsenal will play host to German team FC Schalke 04 and will look to secure their place in the next round of the Champions League while trying to quickly forget their embarrassing Premier League loss on Saturday.
Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is encouraged by his club's strong tournament start, having won 2-1 over Montpelier on the road, which was followed up with a 3-1 win over Olympiacos on the second match day.
Arsenal strikers Lukas Podolski and Gervinho have helped the Gunners in their strong start to the Champions League, each having scored twice in the two matches. The club will need those two to continue their goal scoring form if they are to advance deep in the tournament.
Wenger understands that Schalke will be his team's toughest opponent thus far in the Champions League, and has cautioned his players not to overlook the relatively unknown names of Schalke.
"They are a team with few superstars … but they have good players in every position," Wenger told reporters during a press conference.
"The central defenders and full backs are dangerous going forward. Up front of course they have Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Jefferson Farfan, who we know well. They have Ibrahim Afellay and Julian Draxler too, if he plays. They are dangerous on counter-attacks and, for me, they are a very complete team," he added.
Schalke manager Huub Stevens is happy with his team's current position of second place in Group B, but he is not overlooking Arsenal, who Stevens acknowledged will be his team's biggest test of the Champions League so far.
"I expect them to play as they have in their home games up until now, with a lot of pressure going forwards. I think they will try to do that tomorrow as well. It`s up to us to bring our quality," Stevens told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.
His task will be made even harder given that two top players will be doubtful for the match on Wednesday.
Midfielder Julian Draxler most likely won't play after the 19-year old broke his wrist during his side's win over Montpellier and Kyriakos Papadopoulos is uncertain after recovering from an illness.
Kick-off for the match is at 2:45 EDT and can be watched online here.
