Roma were part of Group E during the group stages and finished second behind Barcelona. The Italian squad beat out Germany's Bayer Leverkusen and Belarus squad BATE Borisov to secure their place in the elimination round.
However, they are up for a real challenge when they face Real Madrid. The Spanish giants dominated their way to secure a spot in the final stages as they won their group.
Part of Group A, Real Madrid were faced off against tough teams like Paris Saint Germain of France and Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine and Madrid came off unscathed.
They were unbeaten in the ground and are looking to continue their form as they march onto the elimination round.
Madrid certainly have stars that can carry the load, with Cristiano Ronaldo leading the way.
As they are clearly having struggles in their domestic league, Real Madrid are keen to keep their concentration on the Champions League so even if they miss out on the La Liga title, they have a prestigious piece of silverware within arm's reach.
And even if they are playing the first leg away from home, Madrid are heavily favoured in this one.
