'Ash vs. Evil Dead' News – 'Evil Dead' Makes its Return As A 10-Part Series Starting Oct. 31
The brand new "Ash vs. Evil Dead" will debut on Starz on Oct. 31 and will have the original "evil dead" trio back to take viewers on a gory but funny ride as Ash takes on the Deadites who have come for him. Bruce Campbell stars as the super bummer Ash while Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will oversee the project. The show will also have Lucy Lawless as 'Ruby' in this blood soaked mayhem.
Viewers will recall that in the original "Evil Dead" movie, Ash had been the only survivor. The television show is based on the premise that the 'Deadites' are now coming for Ash. The only thing is - Ash is now a rotund, portly, jolly good fella living in a trailer but full of gumption.
The footage of the first four minutes shows hilarious shots of Ash getting ready for a night in town. He sucks up his abdomen by tightening a grisly looking girdle, slathers cheap aftershave, grabs a pair of Magnum condoms, and singing along a racy track, drives into a seedy bar. Before leaving, Ash affixes a wooden hand and is off.
The bar is right next to an Ammo Depo. This should mean something.
Ash jauntily sits at the bar, eyes a female who doesn't seem interested in him at first, his wooden hand in full display atop the bar counter. However, when Ash tells the woman that he got the wooden hand saving an 8-year-old boy from certain death, the woman seems to melt at Ash's heroic deed and they are off to the bathroom for some fun.
But poor Ash, the woman turns out to be a 'Deadite' and after having fun, she turns into the undead, white eyes and all, and says, "We are coming for you!"
Ash's Value Stop co-workers are Pablo, played by Ray Santiago, and Kelly, played by Dana Delorenzo.
In another trailer, Ash is shown forming a team with Pablo and Kelly to take on the "Deadites' with broken bottles and guns. One shot has Ash burying some zombies/persons and sticking a cross on their grave when Kelly reminds him that they are Jew. Ash retorts that she should have told him before he made the crosses.
The 10-part series is directed by a medley of directors with Sam Raimi as the main director who will be overseeing the other episodes.
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" premieres on Oct. 31 on Starz.
