'Assassin's Creed Empire' Set for October Arrival?
The hotly anticipated title from Ubisoft, "Assassin's Creed Empire," may have just gotten a release date, thanks to a potential leak from a Swiss retailer. If this is true then the game could see an October arrival.
According to Wccftech, Swiss retailer World of Games recently listed "Assassin's Creed Empire" to release in October. The listing is only for the Xbox One version of the title. However, it should be noted that it is common practice for online retailers to use placeholder dates when advertising or listing a game, so it is entirely possible that this could be the same scenario.
Ubisoft has not yet even announced the game's existence formally, but leaks and rumors have basically confirmed that "Assassin's Creed Empire" is coming. One particular leak involves the game's setting, which is expected to be in Egypt. According to Metro, a recent photo uploaded to Reddit seems to indicate the location of the upcoming game.
The same publication posits that the game could take place during the Ptolemaic era due to the Greek warrior seen in the leaked image. However, it is important to note that the photo could have been made by a fan, so its authenticity remains in question.
An Egyptian setting has long been rumored though, and it is possible that Ubisoft is finally making it a reality. It is also believed that the map of the unannounced game will be bigger this time around--about three times larger than the one featured in "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag."
"Assassin's Creed Empire" is reportedly being developed by the same team that made "Black Flag." There has also been talk of the new title having a "Witcher" vibe to it.
Since nothing has been confirmed as of this time, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt for now.
