Asus ZenFone Zoom to Go on Sale in Taiwan, Specs Include 5.5-Inch Display, 13 MP Camera with Optical-Zoom
Asus ZenFone Zoom is finally going on sale. According to Tech 2, the device that was unveiled during the CES this year will finally be available for purchase mid-December. However, not everyone will be able to easily get hold of it as it will be available in Taiwan only.
As reported by NDTV Gadgets, the ZenFone Zoom will be available in two variants based on the chipsets used. One version will carry a 64 GB of built-in storage and powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor. The other one will have a bigger storage which is 128 GB and will be powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3590 processor. The prices of the devices are TWD 13,990 and TWD 15,990 respectively.
Other than the chipsets and internal storage, the specifications of each device is similar. Both will have 4 GB of RAM and will be based on the ZenFone 2 except that it will have a better zoom feature. As noted in Digital Trends, the ZenFone Zoom's highlight feature is its 13-megpixel rear camera that comes with optical zoom. It's not like any other zoom feature also. The source stated that the zoom is made with a completely new system that moves horizontally rather than extending out.
This makes the device sport a slimmer body measuring only 5.5mm at its thinnest point and goes upto 12mm because of the Lumia-style camera hump where the camera lens and zoom mechanism are tucked into. The camera is also equipped with optical image stabilization, dual-LED "real tone" flash, laser autofocus, color temperature flash unit and a 10-mirror, four-piece camera lens manufactured by Hoya.
It will sport a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 403ppi. On top of it is Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. A 3000 mAh battery with fast-charging feature is expected, as well as a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. It also comes with a microSD card slot and color options available are black and white.
