Asus ZenPad Specs, Rumors: Android Tablet Expected to Be as Popular as ZenFone 2 Devices
Ever since the Asus ZenFone 2 was announced at the start of the year, the entire mobile industry has set its eyes on the Taiwanese manufacturer. After a successful release of the device in various markets in Asia, it seems the company is already preparing to make its next move -- to launch a next-generation tablet.
According to a recent report by GSM Arena, Asus is preparing its Asus ZenPad Android tablet and it should be announced at the Computex Taiwan event in the next few weeks.
In the report, the device is rumored to sport the same aspect ratio (4:3) as recent Android slates, particularly the Google Nexus 9 from HTC. Other features which would allegedly make their way to the ZenPad include dual front stereo speakers, a soft-touch plastic case, faux leather back, and the standard 3.5 headphone jack.
As for specs, some rumored details include an 8-inch display with 2048 x 1536 resolution, 2GB of RAM, and options for 8, 16, 32, or 64GB of built-in memory. Like the company's ZenFones, the ZenPad would reportedly sport an Intel Atom chipset.
Aside from releasing the 8-incher, Asus will also launch a lower-end Android tablet with a 7-inch display.
In terms of availability and pricing, Asus may be following its steps with the ZenFone 2 with Taiwan and China leading the initial batch, and then followed by other Asian markets.
