Asus ZenWatch 2: Now Available on Google Store, Design Looking Like Predecessor
Smartwatches are all the rave nowadays and among the various choices available, worth checking out is the Asus ZenWatch 2. It has been available in stores for some time now since its launch in 2014 but the latest retail carrier to put it on sale is the Google Store.
According to Droid Life, the Asus ZenWatch is available now in the Google Store with a starting price tag of $149. It can be significantly noted here that its frugal price makes the gadget a winner for those who are looking for affordable options. Both the 45mm and 49mm variants are available with rubber and leather straps but there's no full selection of straps and case colors here. The 45mm option comes with a rubber strap in Light Aqua while the 49mm options comes with a leather strap in Navy Blue.
In a review by Techno Buffalo, it said that the smartwatch appears a lot like its predecessor, only this time it has made some improvements. The feel of the smartwatch remains as solid, sturdy and light as its predecessor. The curved slightly sloping square body is just like the original ZenWatch but the new version is a little more water resistant (IP67 versus IP55). Its metal frame holds the Gorilla Glass 3 display and it has a 1.63-inch/1.45-inch AMOLED screen.
Features include Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, Android Wear, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It also includes fitness tracking with a heart rate monitor and there are definitely more apps available. Gizmodo noted that one of the biggest and best improvements is the Google Maps. Underneath is a larger battery with fast charging and can last up to 66 hours of use in between charges.
Generally, the ZenWatch 2 isn't as ritzy-looking compared to its rivals like the new Moto 360 or the 2nd Edition LG Watch Urbane. But for a price that's so affordable, you get what you pay for and it'll also get the job done.
