The Lakers' season was on a downward spiral but news broke out that this would be Kobe Bryant's final season and it seems to have lifted the spirits of loyal fans and even the players.
Bryant has served the team for 20 years and since this is his last season, many are looking at the positives that he has brought the club and it has made the blows of losing a little easier to take.
And as a result, the Lakers beat the Washington Wizards in their last contest, with Bryant putting on a vintage performance with 31 points. Now the fans are hoping the same result can be replicated when they face a tough Atlanta team.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are coming off a loss to the Toronto Raptors in their last contest. The 96-86 defeat gives them their ninth loss this season and they are trying to keep the race tight in their own division.
They should be heavily favoured against the Lakers but a solid performance from the team is needed.
