The Knicks have been troubled with poor performances in the past seasons but their winning start may be something to build on in the 2015-16 campaign.
They faced the Milwaukee Bucks in their season opener and were very impressive, winning 122-97.
New York's overhauled line-up looked to mesh together well in the game as they picked up after Carmelo Anthony's poor match.
The Knicks forward only shot 4-of-16 from the field for 11 points but other players definitely stepped up.
Rookie Kristaps Porzingis started slow but eventually finished with 16 points as he hit nine of his 12 attempts at the free throw line.
Derrick Williams led the way off the bench with 24 points and seven rebounds as an air of positivity can be seen from the Knicks' bench.
This may come in handy as they face one of the touted teams in the East.
Atlanta headed into the season with expectations that they could repeat their accomplishments last year.
However, they were handed a tough dose of reality when they lost their first match against the Detroit Pistons.
In the 106-94 loss, the stunned Hawks squad were led by Dennis Schroder's 20 points and four assists.
Paul Millsap had 19 points and eight rebounds in the loss but Kyle Korver's struggles hampered Atlanta's offence.
The shooter finished with only seven points as he went 1-of-5 from the three-point range and 3-of-9 overall.
Look for New York to try and capitalize on the win and Atlanta's struggles as they face-off at the Garden.
