They are a long way behind the current leaders the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors, but the Hawks are also trying to keep the Miami Heat at bay as they are only half a game ahead of them in the playoff race at the moment.
On the other hand, the Wizards are desperately trying to make ground as they are 10th in the East and are 1.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls who hold the last spot in the East.
Between the Bulls and the Wizards are the Detroit Pistons who are also 1.5 games ahead of the Wizards and are knocking on the doors in the playoff picture in the East.
This makes for a big battle that the Wizards should win as another loss may see them drop in the standings even more and give the other teams more breathing space as the season boils down to a close.
Furthermore, the Wizards are trying to avenge their earlier loss to the Hawks as they dropped a 114-99 result to Atlanta back in November.
Atlanta were led by Kent Bazemore who had 25 points off the bench while Paul Millsap had 24. For the Wizards, Otto Porter had 23 points in the loss and John Wall added 19.
